Old Whitby Ad

St Hilda, founding Abbess of Whitby Abbey (Streonshalh Abbey). She may have had some influence in the conversion of England into Christianity, although this was mainly due to other missionary saints. St Hildas monastery was the chosen venue for England's first synod. It was there that the roman calendar date for Easter was adopted.
